Gerrard will never walk alone…600 and counting

Van Persie came back to the Emirates Stadium and scored. Chelsea won and is still in the fight together with Man City and Everton. But this weekend was special for a walking legend, for the legendary fans and for a whole city. Steven Gerrard (32 years old) played his game number 600 with LFC, and was awarded at Anfield, his home.

Gerrard started playing for Liverpool when he was just nine. He made his Liverpool first-team debut in 1998. In October 2003 he was already the captain after Sammy Hippya. In his almost 15 seasons, he had won almost all the trophies he had played – FA Cup, Community Shield, Capital One Cup (previously known as Football League Cup or Carling Cup), Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup. Actually, he is the only player that has scored in all the finals

Sadly, their team-mates couldn't help him to celebrate the figure with a victory against Newcastle at home. In fact, the match started pretty bad for Liverpool, as they arrived to the half-time losing 1-0 after a semi-volley of Yohan Cabaye. Few minutes before that, Gerrard came close to scoring a wonder goal from behind the half-line. Suarez levelled the score after a wonderful control on his chest and taking the ball round Tim Krul to score.

After being eliminated in the Capital One Cup, Liverpool faces an important week, where the captain has to show his best performance. Next Thursday, in the UEFA Europa League against Anzhi, Liverpool can seal the pass to the next round and next Sunday, against Chelsea at the domestic competition to try not to fall deeper in the table.
